I'm a military brat.
Most of my childhood was spent overseas while living in England, Japan, and on Guam.
My experiences have had a huge impact on my creative inspiration. It was all so amazing, but I loved living on a tropical island. It was a toasty 85° year round, and I learned to scuba dive at 14 years old. It was a beautiful little piece of coral heaven!
I'm most at peace near the water.
You can't get more peaceful. My family is from the gulf coast, so it's always been my home base.
My favorite time is at sunset… Boats are docked, people are inside, and everything is quieting down. All you can hear are the waves, set against vivid color, far out to the horizon. I can’t imagine a better setting for quiet reflection and a healthy dose of planet earth.
I enjoy the simple things.
After almost 20 years living and working in the city, I recently packed my bags for a simple life on the coast. I'm happy to be free of the cubicle, working on inspiring art, and hanging out with my fearless feline, Xena.
I also save turtles and caterpillars, because I'm a total softy…
My most formative art years were spent in Atlanta, Georgia.
While attending the Atlanta College of Art I worked at the High Museum. I lived on campus and worked next door, all on the same block. I was completely immersed in it, and so inspired. I would later move on to work at Carter's, where I was able to experience and learn from the corporate side of the creative world.
Although I've retired from big-city life, Atlanta will always hold a place in my heart.
I'm a nomad at heart.
I love to travel. The spark was ignited by my time overseas. Being able to experience so many unique cultures, environments, and humans really puts things into perspective. There's a whole world out there... and I will see it all someday!
Vintage is my vibe.
Love, love, love it. There’s something to be said about items with a little history behind them... what they’ve “lived” through. Throw in the art behind the history, and it just adds to my obsession.
I'm partial to Mid-Century Modern, Art Nouveau and Art Deco, but it's really hard to pick favorites. Each style and period has it’s own unique quality.
